Institutions and associations interested in visiting the Senate should send a request by mail (Servizio di Questura e del Cerimoniale - Visite ai Palazzi - Senato della Repubblica - Piazza Madama, 11 - 00186 Roma), fax (+ 39 06 92912878) or e-mail (visitealsenato@senato.it).

The request must be written on paper with the heading of the institution or association, signed by its President/Chairman and include one or more telephone numbers of the person or persons responsible for that activity.

Institutions and associations may attend sittings between June and September, except August, while the rest of the year only schoolkids are admitted.

Free guided tours of Palazzo Madama conducted by Senate staff last 50 minutes approximately.

The tours can only take place when the Senate does not sit and, consequently, they do not include attending sittings.

In order to open the Senate to the largest possible number of groups, only one visit per year may be requested by each institution or association, choosing between a guided tour or attending a sitting.

Subject to availability, visiting dates are fixed chronologically until the end of the period according to the order in which requests are received and they may be changed, even with short notice, for reasons connected to parliamentary business.

The maximum number of people for each group is 50.

Appropriate clothing is required, in general, and men must wear jacket and tie.
