International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati presents the UVI guide
"Today, women all over the world are crying out to put an end to violence. It is a strong signal that aims to boost public awareness, for this massacre must end. Laws alone are not enough. A big cultural change is required, both in men and in society as a whole". That's what Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati - president of UVI and first woman to be appointed President of the Senate of the Republic - said as she presented In defence of women, the guide drafted by UVI (Impact Assessment Office), which she has always vigorously advocated.
"It is an extraordinary tool", she was "very pleased" to say in a video-message for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women: actually it is a "first aid kit" that guides the victims of violence through the national and regional resources that can protect them and help them find, wherever they are, the necessary assistance to face "their dramatic, life-threatening experiences".
